What is Plug n Pay by CIMB Bank?

Plug n Pay by CIMB Bank is Malaysia's first-ever chip-based mobile point-of-sale payment solution that offers businesses of any size an affordable yet secure way to manage electronic payments via smartphones and tablets. Plug n Pay is able to accept worldwide chip or signature-based credit & debit cards under MasterCard or VISA.

Is the Plug n Pay mobile app free?

Yes, the mobile app is free and available for download on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

What type of cards can I accept?

MasterCard and VISA credit and debit cards under Chip & Signature based. Starting 1st Jan 2017, all Malaysian issued credit and debit cards will require a 6-digit PIN in place of signature.

What are the costs and fees?

Where are my funds deposited?

Your funds will be deposited into the CIMB Bank current account you have furnished when applying for Plug n Pay.

Do I need to have a CIMB account?

Yes, you’ll need to apply for a CIMB current account at any of our CIMB Branches

Can Plug n Pay accept international credit cards?

Yes, as long as the cards are Chip and Signature based issued under Visa and MasterCard.

Can I accept payments without the card reader?

No, you are not able to accept card payments without the Plug n Pay card reader.

Does the GPS function be enabled on my device for transaction processing?

Yes, the GPS function must be turned on to enable payment collection. If you are unable to obtain a GPS signal at your location, just switch the GPS function on to continue collecting payments.

How do I change my bank account information?

You may contact our Merchant Hotline at 03-6204 7733 or email emerchant@cimb.com to request changing of bank account information.

Does the GPS function be enabled on my device for transaction processing?

Yes, the GPS function must be turned on to enable payment collection. If you are unable to obtain a GPS signal at your location, just switch the GPS function on to continue collecting payments.

APPLICATION

How do I know if I am eligible for Plug n Pay? Can anyone apply?

In general, your business must be a legal business entity registered in Malaysia and business activity that does not contradict with the rulings of Bank Negara Malaysia. However, all applications are still subject to the approval of CIMB Bank on a case to case basis.

What is the process for applying for Plug n Pay?

Applying for Plug n Pay is easy:

1.Contact our Merchant Hotline at 03-6204 7733 or email emerchant@cimb.com
2.Complete the application form and submit the relevant supporting documents together with details on your business.
3.Once the application is approved, assign the card reader (which will be delivered to you) to a user via the Plug n Pay Merchant Portal.
4.Download the Plug n Pay mobile app and start accepting card payments.

How do I download the Plug n Pay app?

The Plug n Pay mobile app can be downloaded from both Google Play and App Store. Simply search for Plug n Pay by CIMB Bank using the search feature.

How do I activate the Plug n Pay app?

Step 1: Download the Plug n Pay app from iTunes App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android.

Step 2: Login with your User ID & User PIN received via e-mail.

Step 3: Click on Start Accepting Payments button.
